Isaiah 9:6 (ESV) (6) For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace.

Who doesn’t need a deeper sense of peace today? It’s easy to allow the busyness and demands of Christmas to pile up. Usually without meaning to, we find ourselves overwhelmed with buying presents, attending parties, family demands, and church obligations and walk through Christmas with anxiety and exhaustion rather than peace.

The Hebrew concept of “peace” is more than the absence of conflict. To Isaiah, peace is a condition in which all things follow their destiny under God. In other words, peace is the absence of conflict and the overwhelming presence of harmony. Harmony with God brings a deep sense of confidence that no matter what comes at you, God will prove greater.

Let’s agree with and embrace Jesus’ words, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27. Relax. Take a deep breath. Remind your mind that God is sovereign. Inform your heart that Jesus is working all things toward His Father's end.

Receive God’s Peace as His Christmas gift to you this year. Embrace Jesus, the One who is peace. May His presence in your life bring a quiet refreshment to your heart and mind today as you live in harmony with His will. Merry Christmas.
