OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

  • OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOX TOTALS - Way to go Otterbein Church! Because of your generosity, Otterbein was able to donate 2,350 shoeboxes to children and their families around the world.

THIS WEEK AT CONNECTION POINT
  • ADVENT BLOCKS - Create a meaningful Christmas tradition with Advent Blocks. This themed set of blocks with devotional makes a great resource for families that tangibly points to Jesus, not just on Christmas Day but throughout the whole Advent season. We are offering a standard set of Advent Blocks at a discounted rate for Otterbein families, while supply lasts. Purchase your set for just $20 at Connection Point on Nov. 27.
  • TIMELESS TREASURES CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON - Timeless Treasures, our senior adult group, will have a Christmas luncheon at Hickory Bridge Farm Restaurant on Monday, Dec. 12 at noon. The meal of baked ham, oven-fried chicken, and sides will be served family-style. The cost is $30 per person. Following the meal, we will have a Christmas carol sing-along with Dave Besecker. Sign up with payment at Connection Point on Sunday, Nov. 27. You may also visit otterbeinchurch.org or the OC App to reserve your place through Dec. 2.
  • CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS - We will have a poinsettia tree in our church lobby again this year for the Christmas season. If you would like to purchase a poinsettia to be included on the tree in memory or in honor of someone, purchase HERE, on the OC App, or stop by Connection Point in the lobby. Each red poinsettia costs $10. 
  • NEED ASSISTANCE WITH CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR YOUR CHILDREN THIS YEAR? OC Local2Global would like to assist families who attend Otterbein Church and who are struggling financially to purchase Christmas gifts for their children (birth-grade 12). If you are in need of assistance or know a family who is in need of assistance, click HERE to complete the Gift Assistance Application, use the OC App, or at Connection Point. OC CHRISTMAS

  • CHRISTMAS WORSHIP CELEBRATION - On the Weekend of Dec. 3 & 4, we will have a special Christmas Worship Celebration that will include our adult choir, worship team, children’s dance ministry, a message from Pastor Mike, and much more. It will be a great way to kick off the Christmas season as we celebrate “Jesus—The Light of the World.” Plan to attend and INVITE a friend!
  • A NIGHT IN BETHLEHEM - Join us for a special outdoor Christmas event for the entire family with live animals and costumed characters that will help you experience the real meaning of Christmas. The event will take place Dec. 16-18 from 5-8 p.m. at the Otterbein Park on Welty Road. The event is free, a delight for all ages, and handicap accessible. Please SHARE the word about this special event.
  • CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES - Join us for one of our Christmas Eve services. They’re a great way to celebrate Jesus’ birth. All four services (1, 2:30, 4 & 5:30 p.m.) are identical and will include candle lighting. Nursery—Preschool ministry will be provided. Click HERE to invite a friend.
  • ONLINE SERVICE ON CHRISTMAS DAY - On Christmas Day, join us for a special online Christmas service that will include music by our worship team and a short Christmas Day message by Pastor Mike. The service will be available on demand and can be viewed at your convenience on Christmas. Note: We are not having any services in the Worship Center on Christmas Day. 
OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE
  • NURSERY - Do you enjoy holding babies, reading stories, and playing with toys? We are looking for volunteers to serve in the Nursery during the 9:30 a.m. worship service. Everyone who serves in a ministry with children is required to complete a background check. We will help you get it completed at no cost to you. EXPRESS INTEREST HERE or contact Amanda Myers (amanda.myers@otterbeinchurch.org) if you have questions. 


BIBLE READING PLAN

  • JUDGES & RUTH BIBLE READING PLAN - Join us as we read through the books of JUDGES & RUTH. The Daily Bible Reading Plan is available on the OC App and at facebook.com/groups/ocdevotionals (click on “join” to have it appear on your newsfeed). If you have notifications turned on in the OC APP for “Bible Reading Plan/Devotions,” you will get a daily reminder at 7:00 a.m. with a link to the day’s Bible reading. You can also download a copy of the Bible Reading Plan each week at www.otterbeinchurch.org/bible-reading-plans.


OTHER NEWS & INFORMATION

  • The FRIENDS OF FAITH CLASS is beginning a biblical-centered study called "Fighting The Good Fight Today." Its focus is on how we can faithfully serve Christ amidst the chaos that surrounds us today. The anchor verse is 2 Timothy 4:6-7 and looks at Paul's ministry as well as others. Join us on the 2nd & 4th Sundays at 9:30 a.m. in Room 104 of the Chapel.
  • OTTERBEIN SMALL GROUPSOtterbein has many different small group environments where people connect with others and learn biblical principles for life. Groups include Men's Base Camp, Men's Groups, Women's Groups, Parents of Teen Small Groups, Sunday Message Discussion Groups, Mom's Group, and Adult Bible Classes. Groups meet on various days and at different times with some meeting weekly and others meeting less frequently. CLICK HERE to contact us to learn more about any of the groups. 
  • COLLEGE-AGE MINISTRY - College Age Young Adults are meeting together on Sunday evenings. The group connects over food, fellowship, fun, and Bible study. Times and locations vary from week to week. Text "OTTERBEINYA" to 94000 to find out this week’s location and meeting time or contact Pastor Dwight Karkan for more information about the group. 
  • BAPTISM - God asks every follower of Jesus to be baptized with water following their decision to begin a relationship with Jesus. If you have never gone public with your decision to follow Jesus by being baptized, we encourage you to be baptized at an upcoming worship service. More info and an application for baptism are available ONLINE or at Connection Point in the church lobby. 

    NOTE: Children 12 years and younger need to complete a baptism workbook prior to being baptized.   • FAITH BUILDERS DAY CARE IS HIRINGFaith Builders Day Care is available for children 6 weeks—Pre Kindergarten and is located in the Otterbein Chapel. The Day Care is currently looking for people who love kids and love Jesus to join our team. For more information about working at the Day Care, go to www.faithbuildersdaycare.org.
  • INDOOR SOCCER - Indoor Soccer happens every Wednesday from 6:30—8:30 p.m. in the Otterbein Community Center gym. Anyone in 9th grade or older is welcome to attend. Any and all skill levels are welcome. Come join us for a great time of exercise and fellowship!
  • PRE-K PLAY DATES AT COMMUNITY CENTER - Preschoolers and a parent/guardian are invited to come to the OC Community Center on Welty Road on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 10-11:30 a.m. to get out their wiggles! Bring a ride-on toy to share and come have some fun in the gym and bounce house! Our next play date is on Dec. 7.   • CHECK OUT RIGHTNOW MEDIA - Otterbein has partnered with RightNow Media to provide you free access to a huge, streaming, online, access-on-any-device library of over 10,000 video Bible studies, leadership videos, kids shows, and more. To sum it up — it’s like the Netflix of Bible study videos and Christian entertainment. You will have FREE access to thousands of video resources to help you with parenting, marriage, finances, spiritual growth, leadership development, and more. It includes content for all ages and stages of life, and all of your family members are invited to set up their own accounts. CLICK HERE to start watching right away.  
  • OC SERVE OPPORTUNITIES - OC Serve opportunities are a great way to connect with others, grow spiritually, and make a difference for Jesus in another person’s life. We have some specific needs right now in our nursery, children’s ministry, youth ministry, and our Welcome Team. Complete the OC SERVE FORM or stop at Connection Point in the lobby to express interest and/or request more information about serving.
  • ADULT CLASSES ON SUNDAY MORNINGS - We have a number of Adult Bible Classes meeting on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Locations, teachers, and additional information about the classes can be found HERE or you can contact Pastor Mark at mark.green@otterbeinchurch.org. Adult classes are a great place to get connected and grow spiritually while studying the bible together.
  • RAMSEY+ FINANCIAL RESOURCES - Otterbein has partnered with Dave Ramsey to offer a great tool for helping you take control of your money and get rid of your debt for good. With Ramsey+, you get a step-by-step plan and the tools to help you pay off debt faster, so you can finally spend and save how you want—worry-free. Ramsey+ includes the Financial Peace University course (on demand) along with many other great resources. Sign up here or on the OC App for this free resource.   • TEXT ALERTS AND OC APP NOTIFICATIONS -  The best way to get notifications regarding service and event changes and cancellations is to sign up for TEXT ALERTS and/or have notifications turned on in the OC APP.

    You can sign up for TEXT ALERTS by texting 94000 (enter where you would type a phone number or the person’s name) and put the keyword OCINFO in the message line. 

    In the OC APP, go to the profile section and click on the icon that looks like a stack of paper under the "My Giving" icon. From there you may select as many categories as you want to receive messages from. Make sure the GENERAL notifications are turned on as well.  
  • UPDATE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION - If you have chosen to become a part of our church family or if you have recently updated your email address, phone number (mobile or home), or changed your address, we encourage you to take a moment to complete the appropriate section of the Welcome and Prayer Card so we can keep you up to date with information about Otterbein. 
  • OTTERBEIN CHURCH APP - Want information about Otterbein at your fingertips? Want to take sermon notes on your phone or sign up for upcoming events? Want to watch the service live when you are not able to attend church? Download our church app in any of the app stores. Search for Otterbein Church Waynesboro. 
  • PACKS OF OFFERING ENVELOPES AVAILABLE - Packs of offering envelopes are available at Connection Point in the Church lobby for anyone desiring to use them to give their offering or you can contact the church office at info@otterbeinchurch.org or 717.762.7147 for more information or to request envelopes. 

  • Have you joined the "OTTERBEIN ONLINE" Facebook group?  Facebook has made some changes to its algorithms over the past several months and there is a good chance you are not seeing information from Otterbein Church on your newsfeed.  The best way to make sure you see Otterbein News when it is posted on Facebook is to be part of the OTTERBEIN ONLINE group.  If you are, anything posted will appear near the top of your newsfeed.  Here is a link to the group.
