PASTOR OF WORSHIP MINISTRIES
Overview:
The Pastor of Worship Ministries is responsible for planning and leading the corporate worship services. Working closely with the Senior Pastor, the Worship Leader will select music, prepare worship teams, and create an atmosphere that allows the congregation to actively worship and encounter God's presence.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead Sunday morning worship services and other special services/events
- Recruit, audition, and develop teams of vocalists and instrumentalists
- Serve as a lead vocalist in worship services
- Arrange, orchestrate, and chart music for the worship team
- Lead weekly rehearsals to prepare the worship team
- Work with the Senior Pastor and Worship Planning Team to carefully plan worship services and song selections that complement the sermon
- Ensure all lyrics, music styles, and on-stage practices align with church doctrine
- Model passionate corporate worship from the platform
- Conceptualize and oversee stage design
- Disciple and mentor worship team members in their walks with Christ
- Oversee technical aspects: sound, lighting, multimedia, etc. during services
- Attend weekly staff meetings and choir rehearsals as required
Qualifications:
- A devoted follower of Jesus Christ with a passionate heart for worship
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in music, worship leadership or related field
- 3+ years of experience leading contemporary worship music preferred
- Accomplished lead vocalist and proficient with at least one instrument (acoustic/electric guitar preferred)
- Strong ears for vocal blend, harmonies and musical dynamics
- Experience developing, rehearsing, and leading a vocal team and band
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability and desire to work in a team environment
- Alignment with the vision, doctrine and philosophy of Otterbein Church
Hours/Salary/Benefits:
The position is full-time. The salary/housing is competitive based on national averages for churches with similar attendances and budgets. An excellent benefit package that includes disability, personal development funds, reimbursement for business-related travel expenses, and health insurance is provided. Pension may also be available for qualified persons.
