DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS & GRAPHIC ARTS


Overview:

Otterbein Church is looking for person to join our ministry team who will create graphics and develop, coordinate, and implement a communication strategy that effectively communicates our “story” and informs people who attend Otterbein about upcoming ministry opportunities and events. Additionally, the person will also help introduce people in our community to the ministry of Otterbein Church using digital and print media.


Primary Responsibilities:


Graphic Arts:

  • Design and produce graphics on a weekly basis that will be used in worship services, lobby televisions, print and digital communications (social media, web, app, etc.), and in the promotion of our ministry programming.

Social Media:

  • Coordinate our social media presence on all appropriate platforms for all ministries within the church.
  • Produce appropriate content and edit provided content by other ministry leaders for distribution on our social media platforms.

Print Materials:

  • Design and edit/write content for the weekly bulletin.
  • Design and produce printed materials used in the promotion of events (banners, mailers, posters, etc.).

Congregational Emails:

  • Design and edit/write content for congregational emails.

Website:

  • Update content weekly.
  • Provide graphics and pictures for use on the website.
  • Oversee the design of the website.

Church App:

  • Update content weekly.
  • Oversee the design of the Church App.

Photography:

  • Oversee and coordinate all photography taken at the church for use in digital and print media.

Video Production:

  • Work alongside other staff in the production of videos for worship services and social media. This may include writing content, shooting video, basic editing, assist with lighting, etc.

Special Projects:

  • Assist other staff persons with graphic design and communication assistance for special events and projects.

Qualifications:

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • A commitment to attend Otterbein Church.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
  • Experience and/or training in Photography.
  • Strong writing, grammar, and verbal communication skills.
  • An understanding of design, copy, and typography for both printed and digital communication.
  • Detail oriented and strong administrative skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Self-motivated and performs responsibilities without significant oversight.
  • Enjoys working with people and has excellent relational skills.
  • A desire to work as a team with other pastoral and ministry staff.
  • A familiarity with video production (record and edit).
  • Knowledge of ProPresenter Worship Presentation Software is a plus.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Applicants should have an associate or bachelor’s degree and/or experience in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.


Hours and Salary:

The position is full-time with competitive salary commensurate to experience, ability, and education. An excellent benefit package that includes health insurance, personal development funds, reimbursement for business-related travel expenses, disability, and the ability to participate in our pension plan is provided.


The position requires Sunday morning work responsibilities and periodic evening hours when special events or ministries are meeting.
