Otterbein Church Community Center & Recreation Park

The Otterbein Church Community Center & Recreation Park is located at 13375 Welty Road in Waynesboro.  The Community Center & Recreation Park is a ministry of Otterbein Church (912 South Potomac St.) for use by the church and the community.    


The park sits on 50 acres of land and includes a .6-mile paved walking trail, football field, softball field, pony league baseball field, a pavilion for seating up to 400, an outdoor commercial playground, restrooms, and concession building.  


The Community Center includes a regulation full-court gym for recreation including basketball, volleyball, and indoor soccer.  The gym is also available for large banquets (up to 500 people), wedding receptions, etc., and is open for walkers 7:45-9:45 a.m. Monday-Friday for exercise (no charge). In addition to the gym, there is a meeting room/small banquet room that seats up to 120 people for seminars, parties (bridal showers, anniversaries, birthdays, etc.), and other events.  A catering/warming kitchen is available and adjoins the meeting room/small banquet room and will also support banquets held in the gym. Rental Information

General Guidelines

1. Persons/Organizations who desire to use the Park and/or Community Center need to complete the Otterbein Rental Request Form. Otterbein Church staff will process the Reservation Form and upon approval of the request will schedule the activity.  


2. Scheduling of events will be based on the availability. Reservations will only be accepted within six months of the event with the exception of Wedding Receptions which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.


The requesting person/organization is responsible to begin and end their activity at the times requested on the Reservation Form and approved by Otterbein Church. 


3. The person completing the Reservation Form must be present during the entirety of the event unless otherwise noted on the Reservation Form.


4. Any damage that may occur during the rented period of time will be the responsibility of person/organization renting the facilities.  


5. The person/organization using the Park and/or Community Center is responsible for leaving the area clean and in the condition they found it unless Janitorial Fees are paid as part of the rental.   


6. Verification of liability insurance is required for use by outside organizations.   


7. Otterbein Church will not be responsible for any injuries or accidents incurred on the premises. 


8. All accidents must be reported within 24 hours in writing to the Otterbein Church office. 


9. All trash and consumables shall be removed from the premises and deposited in the dumpster immediately following the event. 


10. The renter will be responsible for providing equipment and consumable supplies for their event. 


11. A Building Cleanup Checklist must be completed before leaving the facility at the conclusion of the event.  


12. Decorations may not be attached to the floor, walls or ceilings in the Community Center using screws, nails, tape, etc. All decorations must be removed from the building immediately after the event. 


13. Otterbein Church reserves the right to terminate the event and/or bill for damages if provisions of the guidelines are violated.  


14. Otterbein Church/Otterbein Ministries reserves the right to not rent to persons/organizations who will not agree to the General Guidelines and Code of Conduct as outlined or whose use of any property or facility owned by Otterbein Church/Otterbein Ministries does not align with its beliefs and vision for ministry as a Christian Church.  


Code of Conduct

1. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children while using the Park and/or Community Center.


2. No intoxicating beverages, illegal drugs, or unauthorized weapons will be allowed at the Park and/or in the Community Center. Profanity and disorderly conduct will not be tolerated. The enforcement of this guideline is the responsibility of the person/organization renting the Park and/or Community Center. Failure to enforce this guideline may result in the forbidding of the person/organization using the Park and/or Community Center in the future.


3. The use of tobacco products is not permitted at the Park and Community Center. The enforcement of this guideline is the responsibility of the person/organization renting the Park and/or Community Center. Failure to enforce this guideline may result in the forbidding of the person/organization using the Park and/or Community Center in the future.


4. All persons using the Park and/or Community Center must be modestly dressed at all times.


5. All music played at the Park and/or Community Center must be appropriate and played at a non-offensive level.


Rental Fees

Persons/organizations using the Park and/or Community Center will be divided into the following groups and have the following rental fees:


CLASS 1: Persons/Families who regularly attend Otterbein Church and desire to use the Pavilion and/or Community Center for special personal or family occasions (baby showers, bridal showers, birthday parties, anniversary parties, family reunions, etc.).


Regular attendance is defined as attending Worship Services at Otterbein Church 5 or more times in the past three months. The following fees are designed to cover the cost of the operation of the area used. The person/family renting the facility must be in attendance at the event. This classification does not include custodial fees and any persons using the facility in this class must clean up. Any activity requiring custodial services and/or table/chair setup becomes a Class 2 use.

This category is limited to a two-hour minimum when scheduled. A non-refundable deposit of $25.00 is required to secure the reservation once it is approved. Deposits must be paid online at www.otterbeinchurch.org/parkpayment.
